What We Do

Consult Your Community (CYC) is a national nonprofit consulting organization that inspires communities into actions. Through semester-long, skills-based consulting projects, we mobilize college students to leverage their education, digital fluency, mentorship networks, and knowledge as customers to empower businesses and drive change in their communities.

Consult Your Community was founded at UC Berkeley in 2013 after a group of students recognized the need to support struggling local businesses that brought value to their community. Since then, CYC has expanded to 22 chapters nationwide made up of over 350 consultants. Together, CYC chapters around the country have helped over 500 small and local businesses achieve success through semester long, pro-bono consulting engagements.

National Conference

Every year, CYC club members have the opportunity to attend the Consult Your Community National Conference. In 2019, consultants from all CYC chapters convened at North Carolina State University. The conference celebrated CYC’s national success, made plans for its future, and hosted panels and networking opprtunties from industry experts.

New member education

CYC is committed to helping our members develop their interests on both a professional and personal level. Each semester, CYC accepts a cohort of new members as their Business Analyst class. Through our New Member Education program, each Business Analyst will develop a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of business operations, market analysis, and financial modelings.

Our organization prides itself on our members wide array of interests and skill sets. To supplement the development of technical skills, our Business Analysts are provided with intensive training on their professional implementations, with workshops ranging from resume structuring, interview preparation, Haas applications assistance, and everything in between.

Additionally, new members are paired with a mentor— an older member— who has experience in their desired professional industry. Ranging from data science to investment banking, our organization thrives off of our diverse success and the empowerment that comes with the capitalization of our network.
